Yes you can. Probably cause unusual amount of condensation on the exterior glass where it blows directly on it.

Looks like the door is way out of adjustment (assuming it is fully closed in that last pic). Find the bolts for it and start adjusting.

I think PEX would take the heat. I used it in a hot water furnace system that regularly saw 200*F, sometimes 212*F. You would need metal hose barb ends.

One of mine started to inflate lopsided like that too so I stopped. Wouldn't trust it with full pressure and it's not safe or usable like that. I've heard of people being killed by exploding tires.

Decades ago I tried a gas tank sealer on a tank. Don't remember the brand, but it had the usual product promises. It lasted a few years, then began to disintegrate and clogged my fuel lines.
