To answer your question, if the leak is fixed, the oil should burn off of the exhaust manifold after a short drive. If you're still seeing smoke and smelling it, its still leaking.

If you are looking to stay with cast iron manifolds, your only options will be stock thirdgen manifolds. Either the low output LG4/L03, or the high output L69/LB9/L98 with the associated matching...

This is pretty common practice in the insurance industry. Grundy is underwritten by different insurance companies (AIG, Travelers, SafeCo, Chubb and others). Hagerty does the same thing.

Yes, I would rebuild the 92' rear end, especially if its a disc brake rear. The 92' would be a 7.625" GM 10-bolt and will be much easier and less expensive to get parts than the Borg Warner 9-Bolt....
