Hood Clearance with New Engine

It's finally done. The L69 to L31 swap. There's a problem though: the hood wont close because of how tall the engine is. With the air cleaner on, there is about 3 more inches before the hood thinks about latching. So I have the typical gen 1 small block, the summit aluminum intake for the vortec heads, a Holley Street Warrior carb and two inch tall, low ride air cleaner. I'd like to keep the original 84 Z/28 hood that is still on it. Do I bite the bullet and get a cowl hood? If so, what is a hood that looks somewhat stock?

Re: Hood Clearance with New Engine

What intake manifold do you have? Sounds like it may be too tall for the stock hood.
