Trade '84 Sports coupe for '88 Corvette?
Not sure if this is the right place to post this, so I apologize in advance. I'm in a position to trade my 1984 Camaro Sports Coupe, 305 LG4 w/ 4speed auto with only 41k miles all highly original, for a highly original 1988 Corvette convertible with 101k miles. nervous to pull on the trigger here but thought I'd ask both sides thoughts and opinions. One hand I've always wanted a corvette, especially seeing as the C4 is as obtainable and it is I thought it would be a good first entry into the corvette world. The other is that i spend a good penny on this Camaro and the mileage difference concerns me. I dont want much of a headache, I can daily my Camaro fine, and was hoping I could do the same with the 'Vette

Tough call. I'd go with the C4.
I'm facing this myself, except that I want a C7. I don't have one lined up yet, but there's plenty out there. But getting a C7 means that my GTA is gone. I don't have room for both, unless I made the C7 my everyday driver, which is possible.
I love my GTA. If I sell it, it's likely the end for me with 3rd gens, which I've always loved. 3rd gen Firebirds are rare, Pontiacs overall are getting rare. It never fails to draw attention and get compliments, and it's nice driving a pretty rare car around. C7s in comparison are as common as Toyotas and, if I don't do this soon, I can always find a C7 in the future. They'll be around for a long time.
But I've always wanted to eventually have a Corvette. I love the C7's styles, and obviously there's no comparison in performance.

I will play the card keep the Camaro. You don't see many low miles unmolested Sport Coupe around. They all were driven hard and trashed. The C4 (had two) are worlds apart from the Camaro (agreed). I doubt I could daily drive either of those options today. I have been too spoiled with ride quality, easy starting, good brakes, and what not. Keep the Camaro, save some cash and buy a Corvette and have both!

I'll add that I have a '92 C4 that I daily drive May-November, I put about 7000 miles on it every year. It's currently got 212,000 miles on it and it runs fantastic, with very little trouble. I also track it, drag tracked it (until our track closed), auto-x, and use it for lengthy road trips, like driving to Michigan, Nor Cal, etc. So, yes, a good example with good preventative maintenance should be perfectly capable of DD use w/o much issue.
