The above only applies to tires made after 1999, so 2000 and beyond is when the 4 number dot code is correct. Prior to 2000 manufacturers never put any thought into tires being over 10 years old and...

I've been on the hunt as well for my '89 GTA. My factory one is in the car but tape deck and radio tuner are both dead. Tuner won't pull in any AM or FM stations. Anybody know where to get it fixed...

I had this happen on a newer vehicle using an interior detail cleaner. Polished on it with rubbing alcohol to remove the residue. Maybe worth a shot in a test area 1st.
