Think I’m putting this thread in the right place,

Yesterday when I was out buying parts, one of my buddies decided to clean my speedometer glass off with goo-gone. It fogged it up pretty badly, what’s the best way to remove it? Thanks for your time.

might test in a area that isn’t shown . It’s hard to tell in pictures how bad it messed up the plastic. If that doesn’t work

I had this happen on a newer vehicle using an interior detail cleaner. Polished on it with rubbing alcohol to remove the residue. Maybe worth a shot in a test area 1st.

I used the Plastix to polish mine, and remove normal wear. And that took ten passes or more to achieve a satisfactory result. It is a VERY VERY MILD abrasive.

The Goo Gone has essentially melted the top layer of the plastic. My "guess" is that you will have to remove that layer with something pretty aggressive, and polish back from there. I'm thinking some very fine steps of wet sanding, just like bringing back dull paint. Or at least an aggressive compound of some sort. A polisher (machine) wouldn't hurt either. It'll be as nice as new when you're done.

I ended up polishing it with PlastX for a good while and got it all off, looks better than ever before. As DynoDave mentioned, it would’ve been better to start off with some very fine wet sanding but it did end up clean regardless. Thank you guys for helping me out!
