Re: Whitejacket (87' Iroc)

****UPDATE TIME****

Some exciting news. First I'll get to the least exciting. My steering wheel was in bad shape when I initially bought the car. The wheel is the stock wheel that came with our cars and mine went from bad to worse quickly.

Tomorrow my steering wheel is being shipped off to be rewrapped. I have "special" ordered it.

black leather
Extra padding
Orange stitching
I went with orange stitching because the IROC emblem in the interior is multi colors of orange.

Now for the more exciting news. Ive made a deal with a fellow TGO member thats local to me on buying his roller. When the car is towed/purchased I'll be making a separate build thread in this forum for it. I plan on moving most of Whitejacket's interior into the roller. I'll be doing an unorthodox style engine build for it as well.

Stay tuned!

the hood louvers are in.

The deal on the roller is dead. I didn't like something that I saw so I backed out.

Re: Whitejacket (87' Iroc)

My steering wheel came in. It was wrapped by Dallas Custom Steering Wheels. I had added padding, and orange stitching.

the Z28 emblem has been on the car since the day it was made. I posted it so yall would see why I went with orange stitching

Dang, that steering wheel looks great. I've seen some recover jobs that had some issues, but yours looks very clean.

Ordered two more parts this morning. The transmission, shifter, pedals, and clutch master are set.

Lower shifter boot. HT10267518 Hawks Motor Sports

Clutch fluid Reservoir TCC-001 Hawks Motor Sports

This Wednesday I meet up with a guy selling a 4th Gen roller. I have a trade for him that he wants. I now just need to see the car in person. It's a Z28 T-top car.

Are we allowed to make a build thread for 4th Gens?

Lots has happened since I last posted. The car is slowly coming along however. I bought my 16 year old son a 2000 Z28 and we're restoring it which has been lots of fun. We tore out all the interior and I've purchased full interior out of another Z28.

I also purchased a turbo for my LS1 that's been sitting on the pallet it was delivered on.

Happy new year to you all

Little bit of news. I've asked if the car might be done before my bday (March 2) and he believes that it will. Either way, we're getting close and when it's done I'll be doing a series of videos and pics

Thanks a lot. Its good to see people are responding. Im using my phone so I cant see how many views this is getting. I wanted to document this by putting it here and like helping others. You could literally order or find each of these parts and roll with it. Then again, I'm going overboard on many things because it's just my
cheers nature.

I'm gonna try and get the battery relocation parts that were ordered up today in my thread.
cheers

Awesome car man it’s really a piece of art I’ve been wanting about the same paint job you have and was wondering how much did it cost to get it painted white?

first let me say, thank you. The car will never be finished because of its age. After this swap I'll just drive it for awhile then gear up for the next phase which will be, rear end, interior, and other minor stuff. None of which are horrible or even bad but I'm going all in on this car.

Believe it or not, I was worried the car was going to deteriorate and didn't have the budget for the paint job I wanted. I went with MAACO and I have zero regrets. I got it done years ago and it's held up very nicely. I think I paid around $3,200

Every paint place was quoting me $8,000-14,000
When the car needs paint again (years from now) I'll have it put on a rotisserie and do a complete frame off.

until then, it's kept outdoors under a tarp and gets complements every where it goes.

Well it's been awhile. I've been going crazy waiting on my IROC. With that said I've committed an unforgivable sin, I purchased a 2023 Mustang GT, 6-speed manual in mischievous purple. My very first Ford and only my 2nd non GM purchase in my entire life. The other was a Ram truck that was used for work.

Re: Whitejacket (87' Iroc)

Well, Whitejacket, is home! He arrived last night shortly after 11pm. My friend and mechanic drove it 2 hrs here to drop it off. After dropping him off it was after 3am when I got home. Well worth it and considering I also waited since 1991 to see the Texas Rangers win a World Series it was quite the day for me. Huge win all around.

Needless to say, pictures and videos will be next. I'm driving it here in a bit to go do some work a few miles away from the house.

I know the excitement of being able to drive a new build for the first time. I’m glad you shared it with us. The exhaust note sounds familiar, I bet you can’t stop grinning. I have a permanent smile on my face every time I drive mine. Congratulations on your amazing car, enjoy it! You’ll draw a crowd each time you take it out, first they’ll hear it, and then they’ll be stunned to see it.

. Thank you. I owe the board several videos. I've yet to post a video of my LED sequential tail lights, cold start/exhaust, and some out of vehicle spirited driving with my new GoPro. All to come soon.

Today I'm going to work on getting my IROC door decals on. They're black!

Here they are in the day time. I may do a night time video too. You can hear the exhaust as well. Not a cold start but it's exhaust

Car still needs tinted windows, rear Z28 emblem, and the headliner is super saggy. Lots to do other than these things but those are coming next probably
