Re: 8.1l engine swap

I would not encourage undertaking this swap. At best the 8.1 was rated at 340 HP - lots of torque, yeah, but not much for power. The weight penalty of a tall block all-iron big block is nothing to...

Re: LS Swap Gauges in 82-84 Camaro

Actually it's the other way around. The signal is too weak so you need to add a little DC voltage to it to drive the tach.

Re: Ugh... 305 borked.

The in-tank pump on the L69 is just a pusher pump. The mechanical pump on the engine is still required to get good fuel supply up to the carb.

But, you could remove the L69 pump and put in a true...

Re: Ugh... 305 borked.

The ZZ4 wasn't a Vortec engine. It was a 350 1-piece RMS roller lifter shortblock with 113 aluminum heads on it and a "ZZ4" spec roller cam.

Otherwise, the L31 swap isn't a bad idea. The Vortec...

Re: 388ci stroker swap

My biggest concern would be the .060" overbore. Unless it was sonic checked to know if the cylinder wall thickness is okay.

Re: Watch my budget LS build quickly spiral out of control!

Not sure how you got those valve covers to fit, but you'd be better off with later LS6 or LS3 type covers. Better baffling for better oil control.

Re: Headers to Y to a 3" Catback?

The issue with routing duals is the torque arm. And not much room past the axles, either. Keeping the fuel lines away from the exhaust is a good idea, though.

Re: Headers to Y to a 3" Catback?

My personal opinion - you're worrying about this too much.

As for the "small" for torque, "large" for HP thing - that's more relevant to the header primary tube size than exhaust size. Once you...

Re: Carbed 350 Gen I into a '92 ECM

The good news...

The head castings chart is incorrect. LQ4 & LQ9 had cathedral port heads.

Rectangular port heads have bigger intake valves, which don't play well with bore size less than 4".
