I'm trying to put a 1985 l98 Corvette in a 1989 rs camaro body
The camaro was my first car. My logic was take the 85 Corvette and stuff it into the Camaro. At first I thought it was just taking out the transmission and motor and all the electrical stuff and jerry rigging it to work but now I don't know if It works like that. Idk why I thought it did. I just wanna double check before I start taking everything apart, a little how to plan before I start. Any help is appreciated.

There's not really anything special about an 85 Vette engine - should more or less bolt into the Camaro. What trans is in the Vette? I would start with a new harness and switch it to a speed density 90-92 computer though. The frequency MAF, it's special computer, and the ancient wiring from 1985 would make that a solid pass in my opinion. Not even worth the effort to pull it. Almost certainly going to want some new injectors, a new fuel pressure regulator, and a new fuel pump in the Camaro. Probably a re-seal on the engine - if it were me I would be doing at least a cam and a timing set, and all new gaskets, etc. You don't want a leaky pan gasket after it's in the chassis.

get a service manual for both and find where the electrical hookups are in the respective cars and hook em up, as long as you satisfy the demands of the camaro computer (the corvette has everything available for the camaro) the only other thing you need is accessories and exhaust from the camaro. trans from a camaro should stay (tailshaft housing and torque arm mount are different)

Dana 36 if memory serves. Seems as though some got 44s but I could be wrong and don't know the details in any case.
Regardless, it's moot to our cars; the rear is practically part of the "frame", structurally. A whole other beast.

only the OD manuals got 44's except for the later LT's etc., which that is not. I just wondered if it might be a 44 and it was being parted out.....
