It is normal the AC fast idle relay will come on anytime the AC is switched on even if the AC does not work. Also the ECM will kick the engine idle up when it is cold as well.

mechanical pump at the block and adding an electric won't make a difference. On mine I just crank it 10 seconds, pump the accelerator pedal three times, and hit the key again fires right up.

vacuum leak, not enough octane and maybe just detonation. Try some octane boost if that doesn't help look for a vacuum leak or a loose plug wire.

Buy a couple of derale fans or other brands from Summit or where ever and a sheet of aluminum measure and cut you can position the fans where you want and cut the shroud. Easy and you save $$$$$$$$$...
