I disagree. The 2nd gens have fallen out of favor if they were ever in favor. Look in Hemmings & what is rolling across the auction blocks. More and more desirable 3rd gens especially Z-28s & IROCs.

Chevy referred to them as SMC hoods meaning Sheet Molded Compound.

I have a NOS insulator for these hoods if anyone is in need. It's for a carbureted motor.

1. With a sharp knife, scrape the paint off one that HAS been painted. You'll get a small amount of dried paint, whatever color, which you can roll...
