A easy way to tell if the block has been decked before is if the stamped numbers on the passenger side front of the deck are missing,then it was decked.

I do think 7.9 DCR could be used. The flip side of that is SCR is a contributor to torque. So your stuck between pump gas's limits and going too low on SCR to run pump gas(87) which is not conducive...

I suggest "you" take a second look at that.Also look at the pattern the rockers have on the valve stems.Valve train mods change the geo and often require adjustments like changing the push rod length.

The performance limiting factor is going to be the bottleneck "vett" heads.Not the exhaust.So deductive logic says it's not worth it to find headers for heads that aren't worth much.
