Not really an answer to my question but as far as "real" fuel pumps go the original lasted 25 years and the Walbro I had was exactly the same externally as the stock pump but could deliver way more...

Has anyone used this fuel pump? Claims to deliver 15% more than stock so an improvement(?) without going really big. I had a Walboro but never got to the upgrades that would need it.

'91 3.1 gas tank is rusty and has some sludge so looking into having it cleaned or replaced. I've searched threads and nobody seems to like Spectra but haven't noticed anything about Liland or Dorman...

My $0.02 worth. Balance. I found 275 17" Toyo tires pared with rear PBR discs and an adjustable proportioning valve to be a night and day improvement. And that's still with the stock front brakes....

You may want to look at adjustable valves (Summit etc). I did with drum to disc conversion and it made a huge difference being able to dial up the rear braking beyond what a fixed valve would do.
