Inspection park brake issue
When I was moved from CA to TX 5 plus years ago I tried to register the Firebird which required an inspection. It failed because the tech applied the park brake and with the car in gear gave it some gas. The car moved so failed. I think it's an odd test but if that's the case... I know the park brake is not great but any suggested improvements other than adjusting and hauling on the lever?

You may want to try a different testing station. I find the Chain locations (i.e. Jiffy lube) are far pickier. I typically take mine to a drive through oil change station (Take5) to get mine done. Have never had to do this test.

Agreed. From my recollection, procedure is to place the vehicle in drive with the parking brake engaged and see if it rolls. They should not apply the gas.
