6th Gen Camaro 4 Piston Front - To much for Auto-x?
I'm just curious what people's opinion's are about going with the 6th Gen Camaro 4 Piston Fronts. I'm trying to be mindful of unsprung weight but I got to say I also want that look and they will fill up my CTW Motorsport wheels very well.
I was also looking at the C6 Z51 setup before as well.
I have a 5-spd car with rear PBR brakes just for info. I also enjoy the car in the summer but want to be competitive as I build the car. I'll be running CAM-T that why I can just mod and have fun at the same time.
Thoughts?

I'm currently running LS1 fronts with PBR rears, but I'm looking at the C6 set up this fall/winter. The LS1 was leaps and bounds better than the stockers, but a little more grab while filling up the new 17's won't hurt.

If you like the looks of it then go for it. Speeds in AutoX typically aren't that high and runs are spaced out long enough to cool everything down so without ABS I don't see you making any real improvements in time or stopping distance from the swap. I could lock up my fronts with the C4 HD rotors and 4 piston Wilwoods if I slammed the brakes. You might want a different pedal feel and this swap could solve that.

Sounds like in all reality going with the LS1 fronts with some aggressive pads is really all I need but if I ever get into road racing I'll def want the 4 piston Brembos.

Unless you pull a set of LS style front calipers from a wrecking yard (shouldn't be too difficult since the 4th gens are plentiful in our yards) I would go straight to the 5th gen calipers and their 14" rotors. You can buy rebuilt calipers from rockauto for $85 per side + $85 core for cardone brand or $210 without core for AC Delco. Those are meant for a car that weighs nearly 1000 lbs more than a thirdgen so I don't see you ever needing or wanting to upgrade from them. I wouldn't bother with trying to buy a used set because from what I've seen you can buy a rebuilt set of AC Delco for less than they are selling for second hand. Pretty ridiculous but I can remember when the LS market was like that a few years back.

Bigger brakes doesn't mean better braking though. Proper bias means better braking. I don't know specs of the 6th gen brake, but the resulting bias when used with your rear brakes has to be thought through before buying anything.

My $0.02 worth. Balance. I found 275 17" Toyo tires pared with rear PBR discs and an adjustable proportioning valve to be a night and day improvement. And that's still with the stock front brakes. I've got a C5 set but not on yet. If you have enough brake to just lock the wheels you have enough. Any more is just extra weight and rotational momentum to overcome. If you get better tires get better brakes but no need to overdo it.

C6 Corvette make less braking torque than F-body LS1. There is more mass in the rotor though.
The 17 will allow more brake room...the first choice for the 17 is usually the C6 base brakes, 12.8 rotors with a pressure cast dual piston caliper, these would tighten up your pedal length considerably and give a firmer feel (slightly smaller piston area) plus fill the 17 up pretty well.

The C6 calipers are more rigid as well compared to the C5/LS1 Calipers.Since I have CTW 17" so I can fit the bigger Brembos. I'm actually buying my kit from Scott so I've been in conversation with him.
I originally was set on the C6 Z51 since you got the 13.4 rotor and the c6 caliper. Wilwood also makes direct swap calipers for corvettes so you can upgrade the calipers down the road as well.
The 6th gen brakes are tempting since the price isn't terrible and I get 4 piston right off the bat.

I sent another email to Scott asking how the 6th camaro brakes will compare to the c6 base with my setup. I'll let you guys know what he says.
Other Base Details
-I’ll be installing braided stainless brake lines in the front & back.
-I’m running the stock PBR rear brakes with correct proportion valve.
-Car will be ran in Auto-X

Well Scott sold me on the 6th Gens. Here is how opinion/comparison to the C6 base.
"Pedal feel...input pressure should be about the same for similar braking, pedal height should be about the same between the two, speed of the braking- the Gen 6 brakes are quicker, because the pistons are smaller and more of them they move faster, so reaction to inputs are noticeably better on the multi piston stuff. If you need to fit into a 17, then the C6 base is the way to go, if you have 18`s I would go for the newer set up myself. The surface area is larger the rotor has more mass and the pads will wear evenly, the pin guided caliper will exhibit some form of taper wear always but this is only a problem with endurance use normally."
