Re: Does Top Tier Gas Brands Matter For Our Cars? Or Gas Brands for That Matter?

Sorry if I used to much Jargon, but understanding the inner workings of the industry is needed to answer the question on Top Tier additives and the difference, or lack thereof, of fuel brands.

Re: How does this 2.8 sound?

While it is a lost cause, I would argue that a V6 to V8 swap is also a lost cause. For a V8 swap, a person needs the following: Engine, Transmission, Torque Converter, Front Accessory brackets,...

Re: How does this 2.8 sound?

A 3.4 long block is a direct swap for a 2.8 or a 3.1. As far as the horsepower, yes, the 3.4 only makes 160 horsepower, but that's not the end of the story. Intake runner length has a lot to do with...

Re: What's with people thinking 14, 13, 12 second cars aren't fast?

I agree that 11 second 1/4 mile times are the minimum for a "fast" car in the modern era. Stock C8 Corvettes on street tires are low 11s off the showroom floors now. Modern horsepower per dollar is...

Re: Question for all V6 owners

Not the OHC cylinder heads, but the pushrod heads.

The 4.3 has a different accessory drive. it would be easier to go from a SBC to a 4.3 than a 60* V6 to a 4.3.

No, the L36 is a Buick based architecture that dates back to the odd-fire Buick design of the early 1960's. I am discussing the 60* V6 that GM ran in the F-body, S10, Fierro through the 1990's and...

Re: Question for all V6 owners

The best starting point is a 3.4 block from a 1994 or 1995 V6 F-body. They have a longer stroke than a 2.8 and larger bore than a 3.1. The internals should be fine, as the factory rods are forged...
