What is this piece of my interior?
Im reassembling the dashboard of my 1986 Trans Am, and I have this metal bracket piece with no memory or pictures of where it goes... Can anyone tell me where it goes? I was thinking somewhere unnder the steering column but it isnt lining up with any bolt holes there.

I think it's maybe the bracket that holds the fuse box.

Kinda shaped like the door piece you mention, but WAY to big compared to the seat and it looks like metal rather than plastic?

Are we positive it belongs in the interior? It looks like the bracket for the intermediate air box for a MPFI V6 car. Is there a decal on the other side?

it's the bracket for the mass air flow adapter,(the black box, front air intake duck) that the MAF connects too, then connects to the rubber boot to the throttle body, bolts to your radiator support.

QwkTrip had it right. It is part of the interior fuse box. It covers the box when it is lowered into position to replace or check fuses.
