Re: Intake manifold vs intake port cfm

Hey thanks for the info, guys. I am building a street/strip (mostly street) small block in the future and I'm doing all my homework and lining up all my little duckies now. I know the questions I'm...

Intake manifold vs intake port cfm

If a heads intake port will flow, say 220 cfm, is it ideal for the intake manifold runner feeding that cylinder to also flow 220, or is what the manifold "flows" insignificant? The reason I ask is I...

Cam/valve question

I've been told if you take the diameter of your intake valve, divide it by 4, that number will be close to the valve lift that you should use for max air flow past the valve and that opening it any...

Re: Hear range "tuning"?

Maybe a dumb question, but how do you determine what timing the engine wants?

Re: Hear range "tuning"?

I generally change the plugs every spring. And they're not as black as I made them sound, they arent fouling out or anything. Just consistantly black, if you know what I mean. I should add, it's time...

Re: Hear range "tuning"?

Thanks for the input, guys. I didnt know if I'd see a difference or not, but I figured I'd ask. The Delco 43's in there now constantly look black, so I think Im gonna go up a range.

Re: Third Gen Newbie

90camaro355ss, Do you also adjust the heat range of the spark plugs according to egt's? I've heard of it being done to balance thermal efficiency, on OE heads, anyhow, since there are two exhaust...

Re: Hear range "tuning"?

I know installing a cam is a lot more cost and labor-effective, but this idea does work, right? And not so much for power gains, but for effeciency.

Hear range "tuning"?

I heard someone once saying that if you use colder plugs in the middle 4 cylinders (3,4,5 and 6), idea being there are 2 exhaust ports right next to each other and these cylinders run hotter, and...

Re: Third Gen Newbie

I have found that indexing the spark plugs gives a little kick. Do so by marking on the ceramic where the open end of the tip is on the plug, then try it in every cylinder untill the mark,...

Re: Starting my swap.

Thanks got the input. I'm waiting for a vette to sell, so I should be covered money wise. As of right now it just needs to move under its own power, so suspension and exhaust work can wait for now.

Re: Wideband in stock ecm?

Ok, so wbo2 good for fuel tuning, not so good as a direct replacement for nb02, in a stock ecm set-up. Thats the general consensus, yes?

Those might not exactly be ""wrong". If the .708 reach isnt interfering with anything, that can be a plus. As long as they are the right heat range, (I say) you can roll with it.

Advancing base time on a TBI'd SBC?

Will advancing the base time give any performance gains at WOT? Sorry if this question was asked in another post, I searched for it, but never found an answer.
