I think I've misread this. You have already replaced the chain? Put both marks at 12 o'clock and reset your distributor, and then rotate the engine and see what happens.

😕 I was really hoping to retire off that. The power cutting out like that just about had to be a connection issue. Have you checked your grounds? Especially the main one?

Re: About to pull my hair out. 87 TPI issues

Mine has aftermarket valve covers. I got a rubber block off and cut the bottom out of it and used a universal 90 that fit tight, and then a length of brake booster hose.

Re: Engine runs poorly over 20% throttle

Have you checked the coolant temp sensor in the front of the intake manifold? When those go bad they'll do all sorts of crazy things. Rich idle is usually one.

I'm pretty sure the harness from the 6870 has to be repinned in order for the 7730 to work. I know going from the 870 to the 165 requires a repin, so I don't see why the 7730 would be any different.

Re: Engine runs poorly over 20% throttle

This is a 92 RS. I'm sure it's TBI, and even if it was TPI, by 92 they were speed density.

IAC = idle air control.
ICM= ignition control module.
I've seen ICM's do strange things before, but never just bog out like its starving for fuel or air.

Re: front end vibration

Yes... The switch in the transfer case dictates the light. The floor shift puts the transfer case in and out. I'm talking about the actuator that mounts to the front axle.
