Re: My custom ported H/C/I L98 refresh thread

I reached out to Mike today and filled out the cam spec questionaire, to be honest I dont even know if he is interested in specing out such a mild deal as this. Good idle? Running AC? He's probably...

Re: My custom ported H/C/I L98 refresh thread

Pretty crazy that they made a plastic intake in 89. I can imagine the resentment the men of that era had for it back then. Composite intakes back then were a totally new idea and the OEMs weren’t...

Re: My custom ported H/C/I L98 refresh thread

TPI is beyond stupid expensive, the runners and base I bought were more than the heads! I could’ve had a First or a HSR or even a MR. Thats the real downfall of TPI and from what I’m seeing here, if...

Re: My custom ported H/C/I L98 refresh thread

You nailed it. It’s not a racer. It’s pretty much what the classic car guys do… keep the original drivetrain for sentimental and originality purposes and just add 75-125hp or so.

I honestly don’t...

Re: My custom ported H/C/I L98 refresh thread

I disagree with you there. TPI would be one of my top choices for an EFI SBC deal in a pick up. 450+ft lbs 383 at very low RPM. You could literally just cruise with a load or trailer and probably...

Re: My custom ported H/C/I L98 refresh thread

No its the perfect question. I see some TPI guys wanting 300cfm heads and then use the long runner intake on top of it like they are going to be able to use all 300cfm. It doesnt work that way. An...

Re: My custom ported H/C/I L98 refresh thread

Fixed the link...

Those examples sound about right. 210-220cfm total intake port flow can yield about 410-440hp with RPM. With TPI you basically have to cut the HP curve off at 5200rpm and thats...
