Long story short, i had to use the new oil pan i installed on my 350 and put it on my 400 that i installed, used same dipstick, 5qt pan currently has 6qts in it, not showin up on dipstick, dipsticks...

Well firstvtest drive was kinda of a fail, blew trans cooler line, but engine ran good part throttle.
Cam spec solid tappet 531/542 lift, duration at .05 is 248/251 lobe sep 106.

I too have the angle plug assault heads with the hooker super comp headers, no spark splug issues.
Im only running .550 lift with lots od duration. Should get my first test drive tomorrow.

Ive been building my 404sbc for 2 years now, put a set of assualt racing heads on, bought quality parts for them and had my machinist look through them and assemble. I just broke in the cam few days...

I would try changing the distributor module and try running higher octane fuel, compression check cylinder. Does that engine have a knock sensor?

Yes the stock rubber hoses can go bad and bulge, low vac will case a hard pedal, i ran 8" of vac on the street. As long as you pay attention its no problem

Mjk have the rear brakes been replaced yet? Worn drums/shoes will cause that as will bad front brake hoses.

No sorry, the water pump is 7 years bout 4k miles. The coolant is maybe 500 miles old is 60/40.

Thx for the info, the motor has maybe 3k miles. 9.3 max compression. The water has 2k more miles plus its 7 years old. Lower rad hose is ribbed, upper is not ill check ot out.

A bad head gasket can do the samething, replace radiator cap first. Overflow cap doesnt matter it just keeps debris out.

I have no experience either but that price is pretty high for no intake no balancer no flexplate and it claims internal/external balance, no stated compression ratio or cam spec.

I dont know if this was covered already but.... if youre oil pressure actually drops off when oil t-stat opens then id say lack of oil in oil pan.

Drain oil look for sparkly oil, pull oil filter cut it open and look for more sparkles, sounds like spun bearing.

So the car ran fine, you plugged a line then it ran poorly, now you unplugged same line and car runs fine....id leave it alone, or plug line and put vented fuel cap on. Just what i would do.
