Got the starter off and it is a straight pattern 1109061 8J 6 1 Delco Remy. I would think that you would want to use the starter that matches the block so I should probably grab the 72 camaro starter...

Find the oem circle plugs for them. I have two sets from an 81 firebird, different color bird but fit right into the hole where the handle was. You can find them for like 15 bucks.

What did you do for the wiring? I cut the harness off at the point where it conjoined into the taillight harness. Ya im tracking down the plastics and cargo cover.
