Drop the pan and check the filter, sounds like it wasn't installed properly and came loose. Did the old filter have the seal on it? Maybe it's double sealed and caused the filter to fall off.

Make sure the pinch bolt at the top/rear of the shaft is tight. Or, just have someone turn the wheel back and forth in this area while you see what is, and what isn't moving. Then tighten that joint...

I think your measurements are off, at least on the center bore for sure. The 3.25 inches comes to 82.5mm. There's plenty of threads that confirm our center bore is 70.3mm. That alone should help you...
