Re: Rebuilt engine tapping/knock help!

check your exhaust manifold and y-pipe bolts. sometimes those metal donut things don't seal right, creating a small enough exhaust leak to seem like an engine tick

Re: hawks t5 consersion kit

Yes thats all you'll need. The only problem you"ll run into is the PIA of a job it is, do-able but time consuming. It comes with used clutch and hydraulics, might not want to reuse those. I just did...

Re: Planning a 350 rebuild - piston choice stock versus flat-top?

Yup, piston choice will depend on the heads. I think you should be able to meet your goal with the LT4 cam, clean up the heads a little (depending on which ones you have). Are you also changing your...

Re: Roller Cam in Non Roller block, Whats need it and is it worth it?

The lifters and cam will be MUCH cheaper with a roller ready block instead of retrofitting. $300 or so for the cam and $150-250 for the lifters.

Re: Roller Cam in Non Roller block, Whats need it and is it worth it?

If you are stuck on trickflow, they have heads with 62cc chambers, too bump up the compression a bit. I bought trickflow 195's for my 383, and looking back now I wish I would have bought a set of...

Re: Looking for input on 305 buildup

For the price of retro-fitting a roller cam into a non-roller block, it definetly isn't worth it, especially on a 305

Re: Roller Cam in Non Roller block, Whats need it and is it worth it?

It will have more power and also be streetable, but you won't be running at full potential with the lower compression of the short block and even the less aggressive profile of a flat tappet over...

Re: Roller Cam in Non Roller block, Whats need it and is it worth it?

Weakness of the goodwrench shortblock isn't necessarily your problem. The low compression and a block without provisions for a roller setup are your problem. You can fix these problems by changing...

Re: How does this sound for a 305 build?

Sorry I was talking wheel hp. Unless you want to put a lot of money into this, you might want to either rethink your goal or theway you want to get to that goal.

Re: '86 TA 305 TPI: Replace or Rebuild?

Definetly interested in this. I need to start the suspension mods also now that the 383 swap is done. Is there a dedicated drag car? No autocross or road racing?
