Just rebuild the late model tranny and while you are there repalce the TC, as the tranny gets older and the clutches ware out that crud will get into the TC and could cause problems down the road.

Like Kris said flowmaster is a good one. But any new muffler will be better than the stock one. This is were summit comes into play. Call them they will point you in the direction.

Do not doubt it for a moment. I just pulled a super smoker 305 with under 100,000 and the rings were so bad the piston moved side to side. So yes they can smoke that bad.And no the gaps were not off.
