Does anybody make a PCV valve that has a clear plastic case . So you could observe the action of the internal pindle valve and see if oil is being sucked in.

On any carbed F body car you want a electric "pusher pump" at the back near the tank to help push the fuel to the engine mounted mechanical pump. Fuel line routing is important.
A fuel RETURN LINE...

You still also want the good old GM L88 L72 drop base air cleaner base. It is just flat out BETTER than any other 14x3 drop base air cleaner.
The base itself is not really expensive.
Mod it to fit...

Yoy've got the AVS2 carb so you do not need to worry about the choke horn. Its only a holley carb issue.

On the oem GM cars with a OEM Holley carb the carb choke horn was shorter height than the typical aftermarket performance Holley carbs are.
Thats why you need to cut off that choke horm.

Its the BASE that matters. The lids are the same.
The GM L72/L88 base allows 1" lower height than any all the typical aftermarket 14x3" air cleaners.

You need the old GM muscle car era drop base air cleaner from a L88. or a L72 427 or 69 chevelle. 396. 1" more clearance than a aftermarket drop base eddy, moroso etc A/C.. 14x3.

Never seen nor heard of a 820 sbc head. But lots of 920 heads. Its a pre '75 76 cc large chamber head. Heavier casting than late 462624 or 882.

Converter stall:. More is better if you want to accelerate hard.
A 9.5" (245mm) converter is none too much.
( stall range 2800 4500 rpm)
A stock "Iroc" converter or a "S10" converter will work...

Melling #22280 hyd roller. the popular pac beehive springs + comp #787-16 retainer combo work well.
Will need long slot rockers or roller rockers.

The vortec cylinder head version can be bought from Speedmaster79. They sell just the manifold base.

Aluminum rocker arms have rather thick body over the top of the roller tip. for strength.
The +.100" valves also move that rocker higher up.
No mystery the rockers are too close to the rocker...

Not on a gen 1 based sbc.. You can waste your money trying again and again.
The smart money kniws better.
There are many more who eliminate the perf limitations of the hyd roller lifters in a sbc...

If you are going racing use solid roller lifters.
If you are doing a semi serious street/ strip build use solid roller lifters on a (solid) street roller cam.

You might be at 420 horsepower.
You really got to step on it to make 500 hp .Even more to make 600 HP from a 388 cid sbc .

On 305's even the oem 305 specific heads chamber overhangs the 3.736" 305 cylinder bore in a few spots so don't sweat the chamber overhang of other heads on a 305. Anything with a 1.94" or smaller...

The oem style ball stud stamped steel rocker
only show high friction when they are brand new.
Once they break in and create a seat in the rocker for the ball to ride on the friction is MUCH LOWER....

I belive that the Scorpion rockers have a lifetime warranty.. Something for you to check.
These rockers typically out live the engine in the street strip hi perf application.
