The M78 is 7.75" and the related M76 is a 7.5". The 7.5" will fit into the M76 housing with the correct pinion spacer. I think I have an old post with the info.

I had 4.11 7.5" gears in my M78...

Here's a nice and safe way to get the springs in and out without wrestling with a universal spring compressor.

I fabricated a tool that fits up through the A-arm and spring into the 'key' slot up...

I have a Mishimoto and like it. Fit was tight, but got it in with no cutting other than some light trimming on the rubber isolators and the upper support plastic. No leaks, cools fine on a 2 fan...

Not sure why you think it's a LH thread. It mates into a RH thread rod coupler..
All the threads are RH from the master to the pedal for this design.
