This not really an answer to the rear end question but I say swap T56 when your ready and not let the rear end hold up the swap.

My camaro has an LT1/T56 and a 4.56 gear,last year the pinion let...

I used the wires and senders from my 88 for my oil pressure and temp on my Lt1 swap.

I am not sure on the F4 ignition wire.

It may take a while to finish the swap but it is looking great. I wish I would have taken pictures and kept up with it as I swapped mine.I was on a shoestring budget and worked on it basicly an hour...

I would move the port back further on the header,since it has aftermarket headers I don't think moving it will cause a failed inspection.

The a/c compressor on an LT1 swap is a real pain.
