1994 Corvette LT1 Swap in 1987 Firebird
I recently have come across a good deal on a 1994 Corvette LT1 engine I'd like to swap into my 1987 Firebird that currently has a broken 2.8 v6. Has anyone here done this same swap as well and will my current 700R4 transmission work with the LT1 (or made to work with an adapter)? Is there any common issues I should be aware of during an LT1 swap in a 2.8 car? Thanks.

Yes, there have been plenty of Gen-II SBC (LT1 and LT4) Engine swaps done on this Forum.
The Gen-II SBC Engine Platform was very short lived (Production Years 1992 through 1997)...
It was really ONLY put into Production because the LS1 Engine (Gen-III SBC Platform) was not ready yet/ way behind Schedule.
Aftermarket Parts support is not very good compared to the Gen-I, and Gen-III/ Gen-IV SBC Engine Platforms.
The Gen-II SBCs are okay Engines...
An issue with Coolant leaking on to/ over the Ignition-System Opti-Spark Distributor, is one of the more frustrating problems.
90-Percent of the time; I will recommend going with a L31 Vortec (R-Code) 350 Gen-I SBC Engine swap instead.
The L31 Vortec 350 Engine is the final Design that GM created for their very last Gen-I SBC Engine.
GM actually did a great job with this Engine Platform, as a "Last Huh-Rah!"
Refresh a Vortrec 350 Engine, Install a Four-Barrel Carburetor, and a Set of Long-Tube Headers...
You will have a very easy 300 Horse-Power!
The Vortec 350 Engine Platform also has massive Aftermarket Parts support...
and can be built for up to 450 HP, for very little Money.
They can easily be built for more Power, if the Budget allows for it.
Good luck either way!
You can find tons of Information on these Forums, regarding both types of Engine swaps.

Is it a complete engine with accessories, wiring, and pcm?
I did an Lt1 swap five years ago in my 88 camaro,I already had a complete LT1,wiring,pcm,and tuning program. The car already had a T56 transmission installed as well. So for me the swap worked out well.
