ya sounds like pinion lash way too much, not sure if it would sound like that though. possibly the bearing but i cant see how a bearing would make that noise. my best guess would be a broken...

I have had an issue like this before but with tbi, so I do not know exactly if can be related, but, bad temp sensor (on tbi) can cause same symptoms. I had fuel, spark, etc etc, but no start....

when you turn the key on without starting it you should be able to hear the pump prime for a few seconds, if you do not, that is the problem. doubt it would be the pump, ( "usually" pump wouldn't...
