Don't bang second gear! I've blown synchs out of three WC T5's....swapped in a TKO and have never had to do anything to it.
Whenever it's out I toss in a new clutch, TO bearing and pilot.

I swapped to a TKO in my '92 RS, I bought new (with kit from Forte's) back in the 90's, after blowing up two T-5's.
Older kit has some shortcomings, but at the time there weren't a lot of options....

Had to repair two Thirdgens that had frame cracks at the steering box mounting holes...
Welded in a 5/16" Steel Plate for reinforcement. Installed Wonderbars...no more issues.

Blew mine up twice behind the 305. (admittedly, I abused it, banging second gear daily)
When I put the 350 crate motor in, I upgraded to a TKO and never had another transmission problem.

Aeroquip makes the metric o-ring adapters in steel, also steel AN fittings for use with teflon-lined high pressure steel braided tubing.

There's just one part of the casting of the case that hangs lower than the crossmember. Crossmember is spaced down from the frame 3/4" to fit it in there.Drags on speed bumps if I take them too fast....
