Re: T5 to lsx

Hah, sounds like me. Did the LT1 swap and kept the T5 for a while. It lasted well enough, I also hammered the hell out of the car, and then did an LT4 topend and beat on it some more. After the 2nd...

Re: Gen V “LTX” Swap for my 86 Trans Am

Hey Matt, great build. Wondering if you ever came up with a solution for the exhaust. I'm in the planning stages of an L83/6 speed swap and that's about the only piece I haven't figured out yet. ...

Re: Any Gen V swappers? Looking into exhaust

Yes on DOD/VVT, no on DI. It's a toy/weekend car, not a daily driver, and if my history with this car has proven anything, it won't stay bolted together long enough for build-up to be an issue.

Re: Any Gen V swappers? Looking into exhaust

I'm aware of most of the issues. Haven't seen anything engine-wise that would deter me yet. Having to build custom headers would, though.

Thanks QwkTrip, looks like some good info in his main...

Any Gen V swappers? Looking into exhaust

I'm looking to reclaim my username and go back with a Gen V LT1. Been putting together a list of the obvious parts I know I need and realized I haven't seen any headers yet. Anyone know what works?...

Re: 396 LT1 and T-56

None. Was built expecting 450rwhp, and the couple of runs I made against gen 5 Camaros say it's in the ballpark.

Will let you know.

Yes, you would just wire the 2nd fan relay to the same wire that turns on the a/c compressor clutch. Unless you only have 1 cooling fan, then no.

Cut it with a hacksaw if you don't have an electric or pneumatic cut-off wheel.

My best with LT4 heads/cam was a 12.7 @ 109 I think. Been too many years. The 396 that's in there now should be good for 11's if I ever get the clutch issues worked out.
