Thoughts on Seam Welding?

From what I could find, it's been a long time since there's been any discussion on seam welding a 3rd gen chassis. I think we can all agree that the structural rigidity of these cars is one of their...

Re: C5 Z06 Rear wheels all four corners?

You'll probably rub at the front, but somebody has has run 18x10.5 on all 4 corners with 285 width tires. I think with spacers their offset was effectively around +5.

Re: New member

Are those RT615k+ tires you're running? 275/40R17? Can I ask how they handle on the road? I've been looking at those and R888 tires for my TA. I don't track my car yet, but I do a lot of back road...

Re: Torq Thrust II fit

Those should both fit fine.

I would consider doing a square setup with 17x9.5 all around. A square setup will reduce understeer and allow you to rotate your tires.

Re: Totally confused about rims

Use a visualizer like https://www.willtheyfit.com/ to help you see what it will look like.

+35 offset will have your wheels tucked in too much. You would need spacers to make them fit correctly.

Re: wheel choice

275 on an 8" wide wheel is a bit too much. You should have at least a 9" wheel for a 275/40R17.

With the right bolt pattern those would fit well. You can fit a wider tire though. 275/50R15 would give you that big fat muscle car tire look. Might not handle the greatest though with that wide of a...

Re: BMW Wheel Question

Closest to stock fit would probably be E39 M5's. Stock they came with 245/40R18 tires and 18x8 +20 wheels. For more aggressive fits, the 8-Series from the 90's has some lower offset wheels.

Re: Good wheel specs for a trans am?

With the Danko widebody, you're going to add 1.75" to each side in the rear and 1.25" to each side on the front. To get the fitment you want on a stock car, you want somewhere around 18x10 +0. So if...

If I were to buy tires again right now, I'd probably go for the Toyo R888R's in 255/50R16. It's about $50 more for a set, but they are on a whole other level of performance compared to the BFG's....

Re: Spacers (adapters), Aftermarket Wheels, and Differing Bolt Patterns

If you're fine with adapters, just get 5x4.75 to 5x4.5 or 5x100 or whatever you want. Pick the wheels you like in an offset that will work and order adapters to suit them. I'd say that 5x4.5...

Those would stick out almost 2.5" further than a stock 16x8 +16 and they're about 5/8" shorter than stock tires. They would almost definitely poke out at least 1/2".

Depending on your offsets and overall diameter, you can fit a 305 tire in the rear without a tub. You will probably need to massage the inner fender though. 285 can fit all four corners.
