I just wanted to make my first post.
I am getting my Iroc out of hibernation after 20 yrs.
Just itching for good weather. It’s been to long.
Thanks to all the other members with all the help when other members are in need.
I will probably be one of those members every shortly. Lol

I have one pic hanging on my wall in my basement the day I picked it up at the dealership.
Other than that just when I pulled it out of the garage.

Thanks, I have been busy with growing a family and just didn’t want to take time away from them. Now it’s my turn to have fun.
I will have more pics soon.
I see you have quite the built up Firebird.
Very nice ride. It looks like you have had some fun times getting it right where you wanted it.
Where are you located? I’m in Toronto.

know exactly what yer saying, it took me as long as it did to build mine bc I chose to be with family whenever I could, and the only other way I would have done it would have been to spend ALL of the time I had with my kids. I'm out on the wet coast, too many people, not enuf neat old cars...

Beautiful car, glad to see her back in the light of day! Where abouts in Toronto are you? There are some west end car shows that I and a few other Third Gen guys frequent in the summer. Hopefully your car will be driving again by then!

Thanks, I think it’s time for a little run this weekend. Just doing a couple upgrades before a proper tune.
I’m in North York. Where are you located?
Are you currently running a Firebird?
it would be great to hook up. Just let me know.

I was in Etobicoke but I'm in Waterdown now. I still frequent the shows out there though either with my cars or ones from work. Right now I just sold my Firebird but I'll have another Third Gen by the time the shows start up!

Welcome to the Thirdgen community Bull333. That's a nice IROC you've got there. Is your IROC a TPI 5.0L?
As RKeats said, there is a decent thirdgen community here in the GTA area (I was born in T.O, and I'm in Mississauga now). Would love to attend a Thirdgen (or otherwise) car meet once we're allowed to do so (hopefully in the summer).
RKeats, keep us posted on meets, and I'll try to attend, and meet more thirdgen fans, and geek out over some cool cars.

ya 305 TPi 3.42. Nothing special on the third gen scope of things but it’s clean for 35 yr old.
Are you running 88 GTA?
Is see an Les swap?
I can’t wait to see all these amazing rides.
Pick a few brains at the same time.
Always looking for some good advice.
Any wisdom on returning my paint back to original will be appreciated.

There are 2 that I'm chewing on - a green 91' and the black 89'. Haven't seen either in person, but the rust pictures are keeping me hesitant on the 89'. The body and interior are beaaaautiful though and it's a 350 car with only 180xxxkm that's turn key and go, minus the rust. We'll see though, there are a few vehicles I plan on looking at this weekend.

I just realized you said 14,000km on your car, that's awesome! I want to see some more pictures, my IROC was a black 89' hardtop. I'd start with a good buff and wax on top of a heavy cleaning. It'll probably work wonders on original paint. After that, a full paint correction and some ceramic coating.. boy lemme tell ya ..

Yoshio. Moved to Milton about 10 yrs ago.
His expertise is in Japanese. But he is a tuner from the old days. So I’m going to have him install my ebl flash and do the tuning. More of a favour to me. I trust him no question.

You're '85 is rare with the TPI. That was the first year for the TPI being available on Camaro/Trans am as an option.
Hope to meet you and your car.

That would be great. There is a hang out every Friday night at 2 locations. One in Vaughan (Highway # 7 and Martin Grove) at the Texas Pit and the other in Mississauga (Erin Mills Prkwy and the 401) at the Tim Hortons. I usually go to the one in Vaughan for a bit and then to the one in Mississauga.

It is mostly original, with the exception of the motor which was bored 30 over, has a mild cam, double roller timing chain, high flow oil pump, headers, intake runners, cat back exhaust. It has the G92 rpo. It's a great car to drive. I love it.

Re: New member
But I did do headers Y pipe flow through cat and 3” Magnaflow. These cars came original 4 wheel disc but I found them a little lacking so I upgrade front rear Wilwoods as big as would fit my stock rims .
Motor is stock and not to much to do on 5.0 to make the next step without devaluing the car so that’s where the tune comes in.
I figured the 85 had a slow baud rate ECM so the ebl flash i will get me the most out of the stock LB9.
I know cam and torque converter would be next but with no big hp gains I don’t want to get small gains and give up drivability.
Does that make sense?
One more question for everyone
With this setup what should I be looking at for transmission upgrade for my 700R4?
I assume is can be done pretty cheap and get a little better performance without losing reliability.
Much appreciated all your fead back.

I think a cam upgrade along with an upgraded torque converter, I think it would improve performance for that 305. you may also want to to upgrade to the stock steel driveshaft with an aluminum one. I have replaced mine with a 1le aluminum and it was such an improvement. No more vibrating at higher speeds and the rpms spooled quickly as it's less mass to rotate.
Are you thinking of replacing the auto with standard?

Still l not sure on cam and converter. Might need more convincing.
No I want to keep the auto trans. I wouldn’t change that unless I did a LS1 swap or something.

The driveshaft is good upgrade. I am sure you can find a reasonably priced one. Since you haven't driven it for many years, I would just leave it the way it is for now? I would not swap an ls1 into a fine, unmolested car like yours. Where abouts in toronto are you from?

[QUOTE=chevypower91;6360237] I put 150 miles on my car today.!
It was soooo nice to have it back on the road.
I’m in North York
This is what it looks like after sitting in storage for 25yr Can’t wait to wash it and detail the engine bay. But not bad considering.
Just broke over 14,093
You are right about waiting on the driveshaft.
I don’t want to get into it much more than the tune for this year anyway.
Car ran beautifully. New suspension felt nice and tight. Drove like a brand new car.
Exhaust is just right.
Everything works perfect except my back hatch release button and the rear hatch auxiliary light. Must be a fuse.

Now seeing these pics on how pretty unmolested, I would leave it just as is. How do you like the magnaflow cat and muffler? I had to replace the dual cats on mine a couple of years ago as the originals called it quits and the originals are no longer available. I settled on the magnaflows. They are not bad at all.

Traffic was like back in the 60’s lol no one on the roads. Was kind of creepy.
It made lots of space for me 😎
Almost got creamed today when a lady ran a red and didn’t even see me she was so busy chatting with her friend. My son said that would have crazy on the first day out.
I did Doug’s headers. Fitment was excellent.
Ya I’m liking the Magnaflow. Sound is not to off stock on idle but really comes to life if you get in it. I’m hearing more now with the headers.
Paint restoration is the next challenge.
