No, you don't have to drop the pan. its been a while but i think you tap into the throttle position sensor wire and add a screw-in pressure sensor in the transmission case.

Look into "trinary" switches. It goes in your drier canister where the low pressure cutoff switch is at.

You're exactly right, i had to make some brackets out of flat bar to clear my tall valve covers...

I had the same problem with a powermaster alternator on my new engine build.... you can actually rotate or "clock" an alternator, pull out the screws and rotate the rear housing.

i looked up the part #, they are for serpentine setup.
