may go with the xe274h more torque than the 284. not much of a hp gain with the 284, just sounds nastier and last time i checked sound dosent win races. lol

87 iroc. replaced both front rotors, bearings and pads. make a long story short the drivers side is stickin, i drove it 10 feet and realised it was sticking, when i stopped, i saw a little smoke....

You say it clicks...i bet you bought that from autozone rebuilt. the solenoid clicks soits fine. the starter should be brought back and exchanged. bet youll be fine then.

Some of your problem with starting may be the vacuum lines you mentioned. also you can adjust your idle down with a screw on the carb. if its adjusted all the way out your timin is probably off....
