Defroster and Oil Pressure Connection?!?

1987 IROC: Turning on the rear window defroster causes the lights to dim, altimeter to lower AND the oil pressure starts jumping around "like it's on crack" as one poster said. Any ideas why this...

I have the shades but they are starting to droop, at 6'2" they rest on my head, so I was thinking about tinting them as dark as possible. (Florida) I've heard some people hold theirs up with Velcro??

I had the same symptoms on my 87 IROC... surging idle, cleaned MAF, ran good for a day, surging idle again. I bought new (reman is all they sell) MAF from O'Reilly's today, $170.00 with core trade. ...

FOLLOW UP...picked up new MAF from O'Reilly's, $170.00 with old MAF trade in. New one has Bosch on the case. Installed and car ran great. I let it idle for 30 minutes with no problems. I'll take...

I called Oreilly's today and all the have are REMAN MAF's. I made sure to ask if they could get me a new one and was told not anymore.

Just curious...if it runs without the MAF plugged in what is the harm in leaving it unplugged? at least until I can get the new MAF, how long would it run?

MAF questions...1987 IROC 5.7 TPI -surging idle with code 33. cleaned MAF with maf cleaner. Ran good for 30 minutes or so but back to surging.



Unplugged MAF and car runs fine.
