I have stock valve covers, no clearing problems what so ever with the Sanden compressor. The Sanden sits higher in the bracket than the R4.

If your still getting code 34 after the MAF was changed it may be the burn-off relay, 85 was the last year GM used the combined power/burn-off unit.

It's possibly the regulator but you need to verify that the system is holding pressure. The check valve in the pump or a faulty regulator can bleed off the fuel pressure as soon as the pump stops.

Check the wire from the starter that feeds the fuse block, if it's corroded through it will cause intermittent electrical problems. This one wire feeds 95% of the electrical system in the car.

The O2 sensor needs to be hooked up. The ECM relies on the MAF and O2 input to operate the motor effectively.

Have you tried replacing the TPS? I have run into the similar symptoms as well when the TPS started to fail. I have had to replace my TPS twice now, both times it showed .54 when I replaced them.

Oh yeah, smog parts are just because the demand for them is low. You can get diverter valves on ebay for less than $30 typically. Pumps tend to run a little over $100 for a rebuild. Good used pumps...

The front turn signal and side marker will flash opposite of each other. If the front if off the side will be on, when the front is on the side will be off. This is a normal function of the circuit.

Have you cleaned the IAC pintle and passage, carbon tends to build up effecting idle quality. Have you replaced the plugs, wires, etc., worn out plugs will cause hesitation under load/acceleration.

After you hear the pump prime check the schrader valve on the fuel rail to see if your getting enough fuel, you should see a good sized geyser, have a rag handy. I had almost the same symptoms...

I know header designs vary a little but i would think that the pipe for #2 would be the same. mine isn't a perfect but if your header clearance is tighter they may pose a problem.
