Man I want those wheels. Looks perfect. I have all kinds of regrets switching to a 4th gen rear. Long term I think I’m gonna have to rebuild my 9 bolt so I can run these eventually.

I like this picture. It's amazing the difference one inch makes...… (insert sexual innuendo here)..... But seriously....this shows the dramatic difference. If I didn't know better I would think this was photoshopped. Great picture.

If anyone's wondering. The reason the back wheel looks so much lighter than the stock 16, is because I took the rear wheel out of my air conditioned house. It was 85 degrees and the wheel had condensation all over it.

...just got 'em! Man they look sharp! Caps are just chrome. Thought they'd have IROC-Z on em, but this is really not an issue at all. -and for that matter the stock caps are supposed to fit, and my stockers are in great shape. Crazy busy at work and home, gettin ready for a week of vacay with the fam, but HOPEFULLY I'll get 'em on by this weekend. We shall see.

They are not painting the whole lug nut area? Or is that just the photo?

The ultimate finish notwithstanding (and that IS disappointing to see that unsprayed area) how do these stack up backspacing/offset-wise and how do they compare to the OEM dimensions?

So I apologize. I'm kind of bored, haha. So remember in the early 2000's it was "cool" to have wet looking tires? Then you had greasy tires. Tire wet sling on your paint, and it would eventually turn your tires brown if you didn't constantly re-apply. I haven't used any of that stuff in over a decade. But I was looking at my new tires and kind of wished they were darker.
So I logged on to some of my old detailing pages/forums I haven't been on forever. And it appeared tire wet has come a long way. Many brands are now water based. Dries to the touch, no greasy residue. And gives you tires a dark but not wet look. So I gave it a try and it worked great so far. Tires are much darker. Dry to the touch. No sling. And no more scrubbing my tires before storage so they don't turn my car cover black.
It supposed to leave a protective coating to keep dirt and dust off your tires. I guess I'll see how long it lasts. This is the stuff I used: https://www.autogeek.net/chemical-gu...-dressing.html

Just be careful if you need to drive the car up a ramp, especially a metal one when storing, or putting the car on a trailer.
All those YouTube videos showing very nice cars slipping off the ramps while being loaded? I have a strong impression that in many cases, tire dressing was on the tread of the tire, and made it a little slippery.

I could have swore there was someone that had a S2000 back in the day. And they got the bright idea to put tire wet all over the tire and tread. Then they took it for a spin and crashed the car.
The product I used is applied with a applicator pad. No risk of getting it on the tread which is nice.

Looks good! ....I actually don't use anything on my tires. 99% of the time. While I totally understand I'm the minority, I have to say I never understood tire dressing. You want your paint to look like new, glass to look new, engine to look new, interior spotless, yet with tires....we lather 'em up with something completely NOT natural looking. Always thought it looked weird. ...that being said, a dark flat black is nice. Yours look good. That Chemical Guys products looks like it works. Even to a cruise in, I go with nothing on 'em, BUT....if I got to a proper "car show", I'll use a diluted solution of Meguiars Hyper Dressing.

Thanks! I was def guilty of painting tire wet on when I was a teen-lol After this stuff sat for a few days. It just looks like a really clean tire. No shine...etc Very happy.

Long ago,, before all the tire dressings hit the market (which I can't say I've ever used) I would use an industrial strength cleaner. I found it would remove the oxidation that gave the tires that dull, not quite back appearance and the result was a tire that looked almost new.

Wheels are on! The Iroc caps were in an envelope with one of the wheels, so I got 'em. They did however forget to send the spacers. They are on the way to me now, but Ryan at Hawk's said I may not need them. Clearly I don't. Had 1/8" to 3/16" clearance on both sides. Maybe due to the LS1 brakes??? Anyhow, they fit good, look good, ride good I'm happy!

Re: 17x9 IROC wheels coming from Hawks!!!
Any news on the 90-92 Z28/RS 17in rims?
I'm hoping they would be available before the 2020 Autocross season.
Putting IROC rims on my 92 seems wrong.

Still waiting on the 91-92 Z28 wheels. Hawks, can you give an update? If these are no longer in your plans it would be nice to know so I can purchase some different wheels.

I was going to try and use these with the Hawks 17" rims. I don't even have tires mounted yet though. Didn't really look into the brakes too much yet.

Well, not really wheel related. But many months later the time as come, Haha. Not touching the car until spring though as its currently 23 outside. These are MASSIVE compared to the factory brakes, holy cow.

What about off set. If they are generic zero offset will they still fit in the front without hitting tie rods and such? My 92 has a different offset for the front than the rear.
If the zero offset fits all around would get them. 8” is fine with me as I still run 245/50.

Iam thinkiing of tire racks sport muscle 73 rim but it only comes n 20 inch!! Its pretty similar kind of to Iroc wheel. I would like it in 18/9.5 n say 18/10 or 10.5? or ? I do love the DSE camaro setup though. do you hear me Bruce! lol. the only problem with my 17 inch setup is brake rotor size! So on that iam not sure to use wilwood 6 piston n 12.8 rotor front n stock rear setup or wilwood 4 piston n 12.2 rotor n wilwood setup n rear? also if someone wants to chime n or send me pm so not jacking this thread iam not sure about lowering springs from founders or using weight jacks umi? its like 180 vs 750 dollars. ok Bruce iam waitiing on those Trackday Rims!!!!

Does anyone have a pic of the nitto 315 on the car from the back? I’d love to see that big tire stuffed in there.

How is the finish holding up on these now that they've been out for a while? Also, for those who have bought them, is it worth getting the lug nuts, caps and spacers from Hawks or is it cheaper to piece together your own? I'm close to pulling the trigger on a gold set with Nitto 555s.

As far as the finish holding up, I wish I could tell you more, but my wheels have only been driven about 100 miles since I've put them on. They have probably only been washed twice. So, mine have been holding up great!
Honestly, I think they look great and I am still happy with my purchase. The only complaint I have with the wheels is that the lug nut holes are not completely painted with the gold finish. I believe I got the second set sold to the public, so they may have fixed that issue. Hawks was great to work with though. When I received my wheels, one of them had been dropped and the lip bent during shipping, and they replaced it very quickly. So, I had a good experience overall and I would buy them again.
Hopefully, someone who has put more miles on theirs will chime in. Good luck in your decision.

Re: 17x9 IROC wheels coming from Hawks!!!
Does the front rub at all? I just would think that they would rub a lot in the front even with the spacers. I am very interested in getting the Hawks 17x9 kit but I am just worried by the front. An alternative I'm thinking of is just ordering maybe 17x10 for the rears.
