18x9.5 Vette Wheels all four corners

Good morning Thirdgen,

I have been searching around a lot lately getting ready to purchase new wheels and tires for my newly ls1 swapped 1992 z28 project. After going back and forth about staggered setup, I have decided that I want to go for a more well rounded approach by putting 18x9.5 wheels on all four corners of the car. This will allow me to rotate the tires when necessary and will give me a balanced set up for driving around and some casual racing if I ever get time to make it out to an auto-x event or the drag strip.

These are the wheels I am wanting to purchase:

The Specs are:

Wheel Size 18x9.5
Wheel Offset 54
Bolt Pattern 5-120.65
Hub Size 70.3
Back Spacing 7.38
Center Caps Center cap included.

I also want to run a 275 35 18 tire all around as I have heard that people make this setup fit without rubbing. Basically, I am trying to figure out if these wheels will fit, and what size spacers I would need to buy for the front and the back in order to make them sit nicely within the wheel well.

Some additional info about the car that might be needed:
-The front brakes are LS1 style off a 2000 Camaro
-The rear end is a 9 in rear that is the same width as the stock third gen rear.
-The rear brakes are the earlier thirdgen style disc brakes...I believe the 87 style
-Not that it probably matters but I want to buy Pilot Super Sports for tires.

I think that covers everything. I am just looking for some guidance on what spacers to buy for the front and the back to make sure that this set up will not have any clearance issues.

Also, if anyone knows where I can get some high quality hub centric spacers, it would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks for any help you might be able to give me!

Hey man nice thinking. I also have a 92 Z28 and was looking at similar wheels. Was thinking C5 ZO6 17/18" wheels. I like the look but just not sure how they will fit.

2 inch front and back on spacers. Each car is its own beast though so adjustments might need to be made. Probably on rear if at all. An adjustable panhard is highly recommended. Lot's of threads on this do a search.

I have the same wheel in a 17 x 9.5 on all corners. I like them but I wish I would have gotten the 18s, with the 18s you have more clearance between the tie rod end and the strut. Someday I will go to 18s. The wheels are off for parking brake revamp so I can't afford you any pictures ATM.

Re: 18x9.5 Vette Wheels all four corners

I have a set of 4 'Vette wheels (3) Speedline and one Y2K, all 18x9.5. All have the same offset (53mm ?). I'm using four 2" hub-centric spacers. I got them originally in anticipation of adding a set of C7 Z51 front brakes last year.

The 2" hub centric spacers would not clear the end of the stock hubs. I had to use an angle grinder to cut a 45 degree angle into the end starting at the outside of the grease cap. After the brake upgrade, with the thickness of the rotor on the new hubs, it wasn't an issue.

On a side note, I'm considering selling these (w/spacers) and getting a set of the CTW wheels.

Re: 18x9.5 Vette Wheels all four corners

First post? Welcome to TGO!

You might start by reading the sticky thread at the top of the Tires/Wheels section titled " Everything you ever wanted to know about wheels / fitment "

Afterwards, if you have more questions, try a search and see what you come up with. At that point, if you still need answers you should start your own thread with your main question as the title.

It is important to make your questions as specific as possible. For example, the spacers needed, if any, to make a specific set of rims fit will depend on the rims you are trying to use.

BTW, it is considered poor etiquette to ask unrelated questions on someone else's thread, so you will want to start your own.

Best wishes,
