Chrome issues on my 5th gen rims

Bought these 5th gen rims last year and saw this type of like white clouds on the rims in the corners of the spokes but didnt really make much of an issue with it but now it has begun to spread and I can not figure out to take it off. I was tried chrome polish and polishing compound but it hasnt come out. I have no clue what is from and I cant feel it (it isnt abrasive or anything). Anyone know what it is and if there is any way I can get rid of it? I can post more pictures tomorrow but any help would be great! Thanks!

Re: Chrome issues on my 5th gen rims

Are those chrome or clear coated aluminum? That looks like the typical issue with all clear-coated GM wheels where the clear separates from the aluminum.

If that indeed is a chrome wheel (which it really doesn't look like), then I would guess that the chrome is separating from the nickel, but I've never seen that happen. Usually the whole copper/nickel/chrome plate separates from the aluminum.

Re: Chrome issues on my 5th gen rims

those aren't chrome, they're (factory) polished aluminum. thats corrosion of aluminum beneath the clearcoat. it's smooth now, but it will eventually bubble up and chip off the clearcoat. since you can't get to it, being that it's beneath the clear, you wont be able to correct it unless you remove the clear coat.
