Crosslace Repaint Help
Hey guys, I just bought a new set of tires for the summer and thought I'd freshen up my crosslaces as well. The only problem is I can't seem to find the right shade of gold paint in any stores. Just what color are they? If anyone could tell me where I can find a closer color I would really appreciate it.

Re: Crosslace Repaint Help
Nobody can tell me what brand of paint they used to repaint their gold crosslaces?

Never used it, but I know that eastwood offers a gold wheel paint that replicates the fine flake and color of vintage racing/factory gold metallic wheels. I even think the picture on the can is a pic of a crosslace wheel. search 'eastwood gold wheel paint' you should find it.

not sure if it matches stock, but that does look like a nice gold. not too bright, with a low gloss finish. i'd like to see the color when you're done, post pics.

Re: Crosslace Repaint Help
Well better late than never, I finally got around to touching up my wheels last weekend as part of my mini spring resto. My crosslaces aren't in the best of shape (could use a professional restoration) but this repaint imo has helped a lot for right now.
The paint from eastwood isn't an exact factory GM colour, but it was close enough that I was happy with it. In reality the eastwood paint is a little lighter shade of gold and less orange than factory, but it has metalic flakes and shines very nice in the sun. Here are some pics from before and after...
Here you can see the difference in colour. The stock gold on the left and the new eastwood paint on the left...
Respray complete...
And the finished product...

Re: Crosslace Repaint Help
the color is pretty nice, fresh paint looks much better. you can polish the lips yourself, its way easy. next time you get new tires, have them move the weights to the back lip and you can easily remove all the corrosion on the aluminum. even those left by the weights. once you get to bare aluminum, it sands very easy.

Re: Crosslace Repaint Help
follow the 'polishing your wheels' sticky on the auto appearance and detailing board. in that post, the link to 'polishing vs buffing' (or vice-versa) offers very good advice. at least, if youre after a clear mirror finish. id strip, sand to 400, then use compounds. check up on it, its not quick work, but its not hard either. good winter project.
