help me figure which spacers...
I got a set of z06 wheels. Fronts are 17 x 9.5 with about 7.25 or 7.5 inch backspacing and rears are 18 x 10.5 with 8 in BS. I'm planning to put them on my 91 camaro. Looks like ill need about 1.25 inch adaptors up front. Haven't tried the rears yet. Any thoughts?

Re: help me figure which spacers...
tried the rears this afternoon and looks like probably 1.25" there, too. will also need a little "massaging" on the rear inner sheet metal to fit the 295s. who has these? or has input?

ok, my friend had a 91 vert. he had OEM SS ten spokes from a camaro. 275 40/17's all around and we ran a 2 inch adapter on all four. no rubbing... im sure vette wheel will need same size unless you are using a 4th gen rear.. then you will need 1.25 i believe.. did u try search?

Re: help me figure which spacers...
everything I read seemed to lead me to believe I would need 2" spacers but when I test fit the wheels, it looked more like 1-1/4" would be what I need. I'll have to make a few simple spacers to actually test it out, I guess.

2.0" front and 2.0" rear. You'll want to be close to 5.5" BS on fronts, 6.0" BS on rears with those wheel sizes.
295s are a bit too tall for the Camaro. 275 would be perfect.

Re: help me figure which spacers...
I may be wrong but my understanding of tire sizes is that 295 is the section width in mm. The middle set of #s, 30 in my case iirc is the aspect ratio or percentage of the width that the sidewall is. So 295 is 11.614 inches wide. 30 aspect ratio says I would have 3.48'' side wall. Double that and add the 18" wheel says tires should be about 25" tall

Re: help me figure which spacers...
You are correct, and I shall clarify.
I assumed you would use a 295/40/18, which is 27.3" tall with a 4.6" sidewall. Too tall, but good sidewall.
A 295/35/18 is 26.1" tall with a 4.1" sidewall. Good height and sidewall.
A 295/30/18 is 25.0" tall with a 3.5" sidewall. Too short in both height and sidewall.
Stock 245/50/16 tire is 25.7" tall with a 4.8" sidewall.
IMO, a 295/30/18 tire has a bit too short of a sidewall and will look funny in the large F-body wheel well.

sorry they are 295/35/18s. that figures to 4.065" sidewalls...26.13" tall. same height as the 235/60/15s on the car now. 60mm wider. almost 2&3/8" wider.

ok. atleast we're on the same page with that. that's the tires that came on the vette wheels I bought so that's what will atleast go on it to start.

Re: help me figure which spacers...
i made some simple little spacers to slide over 3 of the studs and move the wheel out 1.25". thats not enough like I thought it would be. tie rod is holding the front part of the wheel a 1/16 or so off of the 1.25" spacer and the top of the wheel is hitting the strut, though it is even closer to being against the 1.25 spacer. i'm gonna try a little more, probably a 1/4" at a time. just seems like 2" will make the car look like a 4x4. we'll see as we go a 1/4" at a time. how much clearance should you have to the tie rod and the strut?
