Should I sell my ZR1s?

Hey everyone wanted to know what the majority opinion was. I have a set of unused, new in the box SLP ZR1 hyperblack wheels that I bought on clearance 5yrs ago. I have had my 91 z28 for 7yrs but just getting to the point that I can start working on it. Exiting the military soon. Long story short I have these brand new SLP ZR1s that I like, but I really want to run a 17x11 ZR1 and a 315 in the rear. I know the backspacing is different, and I would either have to run spacers with these or a forth gen rear end, so what I wanted to know is would you stick with the slps, and just try to sell two to get the 17x11s or sell the whole set and run some spacers. PS, my budget is fairly limited. I have around 1,600 to play with. I plan on really fixing up the car/ restoring/ motifing. I can weld and do body and paint work well so this is not a factor.

My car is a 91Z28:
350TPI, swapped in WC T5, pullies, full exhaust, 3.23 posi rear, a/c and smog delete.
New not installed parts: vortec HSR, weld in sfcs, SLP hyperblack ZR1s, tenzo lowering springs
Wish list: Tubular LCAs, wonderbar, struts and shocks, 3.73 or 3.90 gear, cam, SDPC vortec heads, rebuilt front suspension.
(random how does a car with all the options, cd player, 3.23 posi, dual cats come from the factory with such a **** poor S10 brakes on it!) WTF

Re: Should I sell my ZR1s?

I had a set a of SLP ZR1's and the center caps are different than the corvette ZR1's. So if you do decide to run the SLP's in the front and 17x11's in the back, they are not all going to match. The center caps in the front are going to protrude to cover the dust caps while the the back wheels will sit flush. I don;t know if that matter to you but I thought I would bring it to your attention. Sorry if this doesn't make sense but google some pics you will see what I mean.

Re: Should I sell my ZR1s?

The SLP ZR1s are not as good looking as the real ZR1 wheels and they are only 8" wide. You can get almost any tire in the 245-45-17 size to fit, but offers no real advantage in handling over a 245-50-16 tire.

You want to go 17" x 9.5" all around and run a 275-40-17 tire. While a 315 in the rear fits, it is going to be hard to get matching tires - not much is made in 315-35-17 these days.

Re: Should I sell my ZR1s?

Yeah I know about the different center caps and was planning on trying to swap to them out. The only issue is dont want to run a spacer, but I suppose I will get over it. Also I wonder what I could get out the SLPs it seems like they are discontinued. I definately dont plan on losing money on them as they are brand new. Just was kinda wondering if it would handle decent with a 245 up front and 315 in the rear, I assume it would push a bit.

You would have some serious suspension tuning ahead of you if you want it handle well.

It would push a lot...

275 all the way around is a good way to go for more neutral handling
