Looking to replace my M/T ET Street Radials

I just can't hook anymore on my M/T ET street radials. I have them mounted on a 16 inch wheel. They measure 255/50. I am looking to upgrade. I know this has been said several times before. I have had these tires for 5 years, should I buy another set, or should I go with a drag radial, or a full blown slick???

Depends on how much street/track time you have on the car.

Re: Looking to replace my M/T ET Street Radials

They all wear out sooner or later. I am on 8 year old 26x11.5x16 et streets mounted on stock formula wheels and can only cut high 1.6x 60fts now. I have driven on these tires for years to and from the track and they are worn out.

Driving on them kills them way faster. I would like to try the 255-50-16 drag radials but worry that I don't have the suspension to make them hook. The et streets have been decent for me through the years.

I'm having the same problem running 255/50-16 BFG drag radials. M/t makes a 295/50-16 drag radial that i'm wanting to try. From my searches on this site it, should fit with minor mods. Plus, its only $5 dollars more than the 255 (per tire). Anyone else run these?

Re: Looking to replace my M/T ET Street Radials

I will not be running these tires on the streets at all. Just looking for something that will fit on my 16X8 rim without hitting the sidewall. Looking at the hoosier dot drag radials, part # hoo-17325. Any suggestions? I guess what I am asking is are the hoosier dot drag radials and different than the m/t et street radials (in hooking at the track)

anyone know if hoosier dot drag radials will hook better than my m/t et street radials. They will be the same size 255/50/16's

Re: Looking to replace my M/T ET Street Radials

I would say that your problem is more that your tires are 5 years old. By now they are likely worn out and getting hard.

I have no experience with the Hoosier DRs, but have only good experience with the MT ET DRs.

I use the MT ET Streets bias ply and they really are the best none radial tires you can get that are dot approved.
Mine are 27x10.5x16 and never rub.
