Biggest tire Size???
Hello i have an 84 Z28 and i have the 15 inch 5 spoke(stock) wheels and i was wondering wat the biggest size tire i could get. I would like to get fat lookin ones without having to cut the wheel well out. and i would also like white letters. Thanks

Personally, I wouldn't go past a 245/60/15 size for a 7" stock rim. I have that size all around on my Z28 with stock rims (83) - and they bulge out enough from the rim.

Re: Biggest tire Size???
do you happen to have pics of the 245/60/15 mounted on stock wheels?
I am searching now to see what the max size I can stick in the rear in my TA without rubbing.
I am planning probably 215/60/15 in the front and I'd like to do 255/60/15 in the rear but I don't want to have an issues.
All comments welcome.
I have stock camaro and stock ta wheels both are 15x7

Re: Biggest tire Size???
hmm, looks like back to the drawing board for me then.. I wanted a wider look and I think i'll have to go with non stock wheels.
Perhaps 15x10 with something like 6" backspacing.. then 15x7 or 15x8 with about a 4" backspacing.

On a 7" wheel, you want to go with a 225-60-15 sized tire.
The more "bulge" there is, the more sloppy the handling is - putting a 255 on a 7" wheel will make the car feel sloppy and be hard to control.
White letters, while an OEM look - are pretty hard to find in decent tread patterns these days.

Re: Biggest tire Size???
The staggered look I went for consisted of a 15x7 wheels with 235/60r15s front and 15x8 wheels with 255/60r15s rear.
For me its the perfect combination.
Here's a thread showing them in detail with the old Cooper Cobras that are being replaced with Mickey Thompson Sportsman S/T's. Link =
