Starting issues 2.8 v6

My car will try to start but won't.
starter does not "click" and battery is not dead, car will start up right away if I give it some starting fluid, and after I do that the car will start up right away if I shut it off and start it back up.
Any ideas what the problem is?
Car has new fuel pump and new fuel filter along with tank!
Any help is appreciated

Re: Starting issues 2.8 v6

Have you tested your fuel pressure after the work you did? It is possible to mix up the fuel feed and return lines when reinstalling the tank. Injectors including the cold start injector are possible problems.
