Another V6 MPFI with high idle issues :(

Starting this thread because all the other threads I've read through sound different to the exact problem im having. The car is idling super high right now (cant tell exact RPM because theres no Tach in my car), but it seems to only be in park and neutral. drive gears are still a bit high, but the problem becomes very, embarassingly obvious when its running disengaged from the tranny. Running without the MAF makes a nice idle, but very uneven and weak, like it wants to shut off real bad, and then after it reaches closed loop it starts accelerating to a point then dropping back down. I've cleaned the throttle body and MAF, and made sure the idle screw is where it needs to be. Have fixed all the vacuum leak points that I have found. Any advice is appreciated, this is my first car that I've ever gotten into the internals of before, so im kinda lost here. Thanks

If disconnecting the MAF makes it better, that's a sign your MAF is bad.

Hey dave! You've helped me in a few other threads I think. Disconnecting the MAF definitely makes it idle lower, although I don't know if I'd call it better. It runs so weak that putting it in gear shuts the car off. Probably should have worded that part a bit differently in my first post
I'm going to test the TPS and IAC with a multimeter today and replace as necessary. Any other parts you know of that might cause a high idle?

on the positive side of things, letting off the gas at any speed below 40 is basically cruise control right now, it holds speed just about indefinitely

The reason I'd think MAF is because it's giving a bad reading when plugged in. You unplug it and it goes to a default setting. Not saying unplugging will make it run just fine, but that it makes your issue less obvious is an indicator that it's bad. Get a service manual and test it, see what kind of readings you're getting from it. I'm assuming you have no codes, or check engine light, right? You may also want to check the IAC and TPS. Those can also both cause idle issues. Haynes manual or similar will be your friend in these cases to test those.
