oil pan question

oil pan question
So I have a leak from my oil pan ( previous owner did something). But I have heard that an oil pan from an s10 with a 2.8 isn't the same as my camaros 2.8. Is this true, also any pointers on changing the oil pan. Ive heard I have to pull trans off in order to do so but I've also heard that I don't. I just want to be sure I can avoid any unneeded steps to ensure I can have the job done right and without it becoming a 4 day repair...

Re: oil pan question
You will need to remove or disconnect the motor mounts and lift the motor up as high as you can get it. Check for anything else that would restrict it from being raised. You can use an engine lift, but be aware you will have to deal with the legs of the lift, getting in the way. I used a 2x4, lag bolted to the garage ceiling joist, with a ratchet strap and a hook, to raise the engine up.
