Turbo questions

So I have 2 questions regarding 3.1 turbo build. First is this turbo ok? Seems cheaper than most on eBay so expecting there is a reason

Second I believe my original fuel injectors may be failing, going to check soon. Question is can I run bigger injectors per the sticky (19-21) without the turbo installed. Want to get this engine running nice but don't want to replace injectors twice.
Thanks
Mitch

Re: Turbo questions

That turbo is the stereotypical Chinese turbo. It will work just fine, but don't expect huge things out of it. The difference between that type of turbo and the more expensive one is efficiency. This is an older design, so it is not as efficient as say new one from Turbonetics.

The only way to run the larger injectors properly would be to reprogram the ECU. If you do not do that, the car will think it still has the old injectors and you will be running pig rich. The ECU will not be able to compensate for the larger injectors. A change in fuel pressure will only take you so far.

Re: Turbo questions

Yea thats a tiny turbo. I ran one of those when I first did my turbo build. It worked fine but was too small and unefficent where I ended up running it boost and flow wise.

For a low cost turbo this is what I run now. Its double of the one you linked but its a good turbo for a budget and will keep you happy for a long time. The sizing is pretty darn for a 2.8L or 3.1L
